Cass County Fair Amature Talent Show Contest
All non-professional artists are welcome to participate Thursday, June 29 at 6:00pm - sign up in advance is required by Thursday, June 29 by 1pm in the open class building or by calling Terri Foster at 218-821-0444. A $5 entry fee is required per act. A piano, microphones, speakers, CD player, and music stand will be available. Come watch area kids, teens and adults impress you with their talents.
1st place winners are eligible to continue on to the State Fair talent show. Winners from each age category will receive prizes and/or cash. A special thank you to Dr. McDermott's Orthodontist office for sponsoring in part this event. Prize packages will be awarded to top two contestants in each division.

Acts may be an individual or any configuration of people.
Accompanists, when not a part of the act, may be any age. There are three different age divisions:
- Pre-teen Division (open to acts age 12 and under)
- Teen Division (open to acts age 13 through 18)
- Open Division (open to any act, regardless of age)
State Fair Eligibility & Rules:
County fairs throughout Minnesota are invited to send winners of their amateur talent contests to the State Fair competition. Semifinals are held the first nine evenings of the State Fair on the Family Fair Stage in Baldwin Park with the nightly first place winners progressing to the MSF County Fair Talent Contest Finals, which take place on the tenth night of the fair. The first and second place finals winners in each division continue on in the competition by representing their counties in the Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest Finals on Sunday, Sept. 2 in the Grandstand.
The contest is open to all amateur entertainers. Professionals are NOT permitted to compete. This includes Union musicians and anyone whose principle source of income is from their talent.
Compensation for performing at weddings, etc. does not constitute principle source of income. With the exception of first place winners in the Open Division, acts that have participated in the past are welcome to compete again. Former Teen Division first place winners are required to compete in the Open Division
if they choose to compete again. Past Preteen first place winners must also compete in the Open Division if they are not of age to compete in the Teen Division.
Admission & Parking: The Minnesota State Fair operates an “All Pay Gate” policy. Acts are responsible for gate admission and parking fees. Discount admission tickets can be purchased through August 20. Free parking and bus service is also available through the State Fair Park & Ride system.
Dressing Rooms: Dressing rooms are available for auditions only! Please plan to use public restrooms
for semifinals and finals.
Judging Criteria & Decisions
Judges’ decisions are final and scores are not released to acts or the public. Acts will be judged on:
- quality of performance (including selection)
- stage presence
- entertainment value
